When you think of an Iowa Welcome Center, you don’t think full-scale awesome history museum!

You could truly spend hours at the Harrison County Historical Village. There is a large exhibit on agriculture history, a peddlers wagon (something I had never seen before), a log cabin, schoolhouse and general store…and tons more!

There was so much to look at and learn about

Harrison County Historical Village and Welcome Center ROADS
This outdoor exhibit teaches how the Lincoln Hwy changed from a dirt road to a paved road.

A nice side-walk connects all the outdoor buildings, including the little houses you can see on the right in the picture.

This area was like a little play village for the kids. There was a side walk “road” which they could “drive” on.

Next time we will visit plan a picnic at Harrison County Historical Village and  bring the kids scooters so they can race around on the little village roads.

***This stop had some wonderful brochures about the Loess Hills and Lewis and Clark! If you stop by, I would love for you to share….Did you know there were so many different types of barbed wire?
