When most people hear about Reiman Gardens, it’s because of the butterflies! But there are also 14 acres of beauty to enjoy!
Reiman Gardens has two indoor conservatories: Christina Reiman Butterfly Wing and Hughes Conservatory. Both have relaxing water features and would be enjoyable in the winter.
The whole garden appeals to children!
We visited on May 6th for American Public Garden Day and received FREE admission. The garden was busy but not overly crowded.
*update – currently the 2nd Wednesday of each month is free. Please check the website for any changes to this program.
I was surprised how much the kids loved the garden and we visited for two hours. We really could have stayed longer!
The kaleidoscope in the Children’s Garden was impressive. The flower box turned so that the designs change. In the barn kids can learn through hands-on activities.
The kids LOVED this wooden play structure and we spent over half hour here!
We really enjoyed our visit and would consider a membership! It’s not that expensive and if you lived in the area it would be a wonderful place to visit often!
A membership is connected to the American Horticultural Society’s Reciprocal Admission Program.
*** Also in Ames is the ISU Insect Zoo. You can have a field trip for your group that combines both the gardens and zoo!
