Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium – Nebraska

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium

My favorite thing about this zoo and aquarium is that it doesn’t feel large at 130 acres. Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is well planned and the exhibits are laid out in a way that is easy to constantly be seeing animals. It’s not a whole lot bigger than the St. Louis Zoo but has a very different feel. The indoor Desert Dome and Tropical Jungle are unique and a great stop in cold Midwest winters.

The zoo is tailored to families and is kid-friendly. It has all the amenities you would need. The zoo likes to boast that it is TripAdvisor’s number one ranked zoo in the world! What stands out to me about the zoo is the diversity of animals and how easy it is for the kids to get up close to all the different animals.

Great learning opportunities for kids! We can easily spend a full day at the zoo. If you have any zoo membership then check the reciprocity program for deals and discounts.

I know families from central Iowa who will drive to Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo, visit, and drive back home all in the same day. It’s definitely doable, but we enjoy spending the night and making a little mini-vacation out of our trip.
