UPDATE: We decided to take the kids one more time before they got too big for this fabulous learning playground. There is SO much here for the kids to learn through hands-on play.
The Bank area supported what we have been studying in math for money but I couldn’t get the kids to focus. They were just too excited about everything.
We played for over 3 hours at Iowa Children’s Museum and had to drag them out!
There was a birthday party going on while we were there but the museum is very well staffed and we had a terrific visit. Enjoy the updated pictures!
So…What is NOT to LOVE about this place? It’s an awesome learning playground and it’s huge! There is SO much to do and see.
We spent a lot of time in the “city” where there is a grocery store, bank, restaurant, post office and hospital. My kids loved the x-ray machine!
I loved the art focus; A music room, art room and theater!
Something very unique is that the theater can hold a rather large audience.
This would be a fun place to bring your preschool or home school group for putting on a performance.
I don’t know how the museum uses this room and what accommodations they would offer, but it would be worth asking for local groups!
Lots of hands-on STEM activities for all ages. My kids spent over 1/2 hour in the motion room racing cars and balls.
my one complaint – on this visit not all the exhibits were working correctly – probably about 98% of the museum was great but there were a few areas that need fixing.
There was a whole separate area on the second floor just for little ones and it’s a wonderful place for even the littlest members of your family or preschool group!
The BLUE ROOM is a new addition at the Iowa Children’s Museum and was HUGE hit with us!!!
At Coral Ridge Mall there is a food court right next to the museum with a Chick-fli-a and an Ice Skating Rink. While in line to order, my girl was given a free coupon for a ride on the carousel.
As part of our trip (several years ago) we stayed one night at Ramada Williamsburg and Wasserbahn Waterpark – there is a lot about this hotel on TripAdvisor so check out the reviews before you book to see if it’s the right stay for your family!
